Agronomic performance and genetic dissimilarity of second-harvest soybean cultivars using REML/BLUP and Gower’s algorithm Bragantia
Follmann,Diego Nicolau; Souza,Velci Queiróz de; Cargnelutti Filho,Alberto; Demari,Gustavo Henrique; Nardino,Maicon; Olivoto,Tiago; Carvalho,Ivan Ricardo; Silva,Antonio David Bortoluzzi; Meira,Daniela; Meier,Carine.
ABSTRACT The cultivation of second-harvest with soybean crop after first-harvest with maize crop has become an alternative to aggregate income to farmers in the South region of Brazil. However, there is little information about this cropping system in this region. The aims of this study were to: (i) evaluate the agronomic performance of soybean (Glycine max L.) cultivars growing in second-harvest during the summer; and (ii) evaluate the genetic divergence of the cultivars based on qualitative and quantitative traits. To do this, 18 soybean cultivars were evaluated in three field trials, sown during January in the northwestern region of Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil. In each experiment, a randomized block design with four replicates was used. Five...

Estimates of genetic parameters between and within black oat populations Bragantia
Meira,Daniela; Meier,Carine; Olivoto,Tiago; Nardino,Maicon; Klein,Luís Antônio; Moro,Ederson Duranti; Fassini,Fabrício; Marchioro,Volmir Sergio; Souza,Velci Queiróz de.
ABSTRACT The aims of this study were to characterize black oat populations by estimating between- and within-populations variance components and genetic parameters, as well as to distinguish the populations using multivariable statistics. The experiment was carried out in randomized blocks design with three repetitions, with 14 black oat populations collected in several municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul state. Agronomic important traits were assessed at physiological maturation stage. Variance components and genetic parameters were estimated considering within-block information. In addition, Mahalanobis distance, relative contribution of traits, and canonical variables were used to distinguish the populations. Selection based on panicle length, number of...

Interference of sample size on multicollinearity diagnosis in path analysis PAB

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the interference of sample size on multicollinearity diagnosis in path analysis. From the analyses of productive traits of cherry tomato, two Pearson correlation matrices were obtained, one with severe multicollinearity and the other with weak multicollinearity. Sixty-six sample sizes were designed, and from the amplitude of the bootstrap confidence interval, it was observed that sample size interfered on multicollinearity diagnosis. When sample size was small, the imprecision of the diagnostic criteria estimates interfered with multicollinearity diagnosis in the matrix with weak multicollinearity.

Methods of adaptability and stability applied to eucalyptus breeding PAB
Santos,Osmarino Pires dos; Carvalho,Ivan Ricardo; Nardino,Maicon; Olivoto,Tiago; Pelegrin,Alan Junior de; Szareski,Vinícius Jardel; Ferrari,Mauricio; Nunes,Andrei Caíque Pires; Demari,Gustavo Henrique; Lautenchleger,Francine; Souza,Velci Queiróz de; Maia,Luciano Carlos da.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the consistency of the methods of Annicchiarico, Lin & Binns, Wricke, and factor analysis in identifying eucalyptus clones with stability, adaptability, and high productive potential. Eight-four clones, with three years of age, from the genetic breeding program of the company CMPC Celulose Riograndense were used. Three field experiments were carried out in a randomized complete block design, in an 84x3 factorial arragement, with 20 replicates of one plant per plot. The clones were evaluated as to diameter at breast height, plant height, and volume of wood. The methods of Annicchiarico and Lin & Binns are highly correlated with each other, and their use together with the method of Wricke is a...

ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to characterize the production of biquinho pepper through the interpretation of parameter estimates from the logistic model and its critical points obtained by the partial derivatives of the function, and to indicate the best cultivar and growing season for subtropical climate sites. For this, a 2x3 factorial experiment was conducted with two cultivars of biquinho pepper (BRS Moema and Airetama biquinho) in three growing seasons (E1: October 2015, E2: November 2015, E3: January 2016). The logistic non-linear model for fruit mass was specified as a function of the accumulated thermal sum, and the critical points were calculated through the partial derivatives of the model, in order to characterize the productive...

Productive variability, border use and plot size in trials with cherry tomato Ciência Rural
Santos,Daniel; Lúcio,Alessandro Dal’Col; Lopes,Sidinei José; Cargnelutti Filho,Alberto; Olivoto,Tiago.
ABSTRACT: Knowing the productive variability within protected environments is crucial for choosing the experimental design to be used in that conditions. Thus, the aim of the present study was to assess the variability of fruit production in protected environment cultivated with cherry tomatoes and to verify the border effect and plot size in reducing this variability. To this, data from an uniformity test carried out in a greenhouse with cherry tomato cv. ‘Lili’ were used. Total fresh mass of fruits per plant was considered being these plants arranged in cropping rows parallel to the lateral openings of the greenhouse and also the same plants arranged in columns perpendicular to these openings. To generate the borders, different scenarios were designed by...

Variability, plot size and border effect in lettuce trials in protected environment Bragantia
Santos,Daniel; Lúcio,Alessandro Dal’Col; Cargnelutti Filho,Alberto; Lopes,Sidinei José; Olivoto,Tiago.
ABSTRACT The variability within rows of cultivation may reduce the accuracy of experiments conducted in a complete randomized block design if the rows are considered as blocks, however, little is known about this variability in protected environments. Thus, our aim was to study the variability of the fresh mass in lettuce shoot, growing in protected environment, and to verify the border effect and size of the experimental unit in minimizing the productive variability. Data from two uniformity trials carried out in a greenhouse in autumn and spring growing seasons were used. In the statistical analyses, it was considered the existence of parallel cultivation rows the lateral openings of the greenhouse and of columns perpendicular to these openings....
